Full Fiberglass Panel Replacement in Yorba Linda
Full panel replacement removes and replaces an entire fiberglass sidewall, cap or slide face when repair is no longer viable. Where the manufacturer no longer supplies the panel, we mould a replacement in house from the surviving side or a pattern.
Panel replacement is the end of the decision tree, and it is a decision that should be made with both numbers on the table rather than by default.
It becomes correct in three situations. The debonded area covers most of the panel. The substrate is rotted across a large area. Or the damage crosses moulded features that will not reproduce convincingly as a repair.
When does replacement beat repair?
The rule of thumb we use is that when the repair figure reaches about sixty percent of the replacement figure, replacement is the better outcome.
That is not purely about money. A large repair on a highly visible surface carries appearance risk that a replacement does not. A replaced panel is a new panel. A large repair is a large repair, and on a coach you may sell later that distinction has value.
The exception is a vehicle where panel availability is poor and moulding is required, which raises the replacement figure substantially and shifts the balance back toward repair.
What happens when the manufacturer no longer makes the panel?
We make it. That capability is the reason we can take on coaches from manufacturers that no longer exist.
A mould is taken from the opposite side of the vehicle where the geometry mirrors, or from a donor panel, or built to a pattern taken off the vehicle. The replacement is then laid up with a reinforcement schedule matched to the original, including any local reinforcement the original design included around openings and mounting points.
This is a substantial part of the labor on an older coach and it is why panel replacement on a discontinued model can approach the cost of a much larger repair on a current one.
How is a panel replacement actually performed?
The panel is released at its bonded perimeter and mechanical fasteners, taking care not to damage the framing it is bonded to. Everything mounted through it, meaning windows, lights, vents, awning rails and slide seals, comes off and is catalogued.
Framing is then inspected in full, because whatever destroyed the panel usually reached the frame behind it. Substrate is replaced. The new panel is bonded with the specified adhesive under controlled clamping pressure across the full area, which is why this work happens indoors at controlled temperature rather than outside.
Refinish then blends into the adjacent panels so the replacement does not read as a new section on an older vehicle.

Two to eight weeks. Panel sourcing or moulding is the long pole, and bonded adhesive cure time cannot be shortened.
