RV Mechanical and Systems Repair in Yorba Linda
Mechanical and systems repair covers the working parts of a coach rather than its body: 12 volt and 120 volt electrical, generators, fresh and waste plumbing, and the appliances those systems feed. OCRV Center performs all of it in shop in Yorba Linda at a posted mechanical rate of $260 per hour.
A recreational vehicle is a house bolted to a chassis, and the house has its own utilities. Power, water, waste and heat all run through systems that were assembled on a production line in a few hours and then expected to survive twenty years of vibration, temperature swing and neglect.
That is why systems work is diagnostic work first. The symptom an owner reports is almost never the fault. A refrigerator that stopped cooling is frequently a 12 volt supply problem. A water pump that cycles constantly is frequently a toilet valve. We charge diagnostic time honestly and credit it against the repair rather than guessing at parts.
What is included in RV mechanical and systems work?
Four branches cover nearly all of it. Electrical, which splits into the 12 volt DC house side and the 120 volt AC shore and generator side. Generators, which on most coaches means an Onan or Cummins set living in a sealed compartment. Plumbing, meaning fresh water, gray and black waste, and the fixtures between them. Appliances, meaning refrigeration, cooking, air conditioning and heat.
Those four interlock more than owners expect. The furnace runs on liquid propane for heat but 12 volt DC for the blower, so a weak battery presents as a heating fault. An absorption refrigerator runs on propane or 120 volt AC but needs 12 volt DC to operate its control board. Diagnosing any one of them in isolation produces the wrong answer often enough that we do not work that way.

Why does systems diagnosis cost money before any repair starts?
Because the alternative is parts roulette. An intermittent 12 volt fault on a Class A with three distribution panels and forty years of accumulated aftermarket wiring is not solved by swapping a converter. It is solved by putting a meter on the circuit under load and following voltage drop to the fault.
Our posted diagnostic rate is $285 per hour with a one hour minimum, and it is refundable as a credit against an authorized repair. A $150 RV systems estimate covers the broader walk on slide, awning, water, electrical and generator concerns and is refundable the same way. Both exist so the shop can spend real time finding the actual fault instead of pricing a guess.
What does systems work cost at posted rates?
Mechanical and electrical labor is $260 per hour. Diagnostics, scan and programming is $285 per hour. Parts carry 100 percent markup at or under $100 and 35 percent above that, and hazmat disposal is $45 flat where refrigerant, chemicals or liquid propane are involved.
Published bands on this silo run from $285 for a straightforward electrical diagnosis to $12,000 and up for a large solar and lithium installation. Generator work spans $400 to $8,500 and up. Black and gray tank replacement spans $750 to $8,500. None of those numbers are teaser pricing, and none of them change once a vehicle is in the building.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work on the engine and drivetrain as well as the house systems?
No. We handle house systems, chassis body work, generators and coach electrical. Engine, transmission and DOT inspection work goes to a chassis specialist, and we will tell you that at intake rather than after your vehicle has been parked here for a week.
How much is an RV systems estimate?
It is $150 and covers slide, awning, water, electrical and generator concerns. That amount is refundable as a credit against an authorized repair, so it becomes part of the repair cost rather than an additional charge.
Can you work on my coach while I wait?
Small items sometimes, but most systems work involves access panels, floor cavities and compartment removal. Plan on leaving the vehicle. Our shop is at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda and you can reach scheduling at (949) 799-3387.
Do you service systems on trailers and vans, not just motorhomes?
Yes. Travel trailers, fifth wheels, truck campers, Sprinter and ProMaster conversions, cargo trailers and commercial box vehicles all come through here. Van conversions in particular bring lithium, solar and inverter work that most general shops will not touch.
