Detailing and Reconditioning / In shop only
Full RV Interior and Exterior Detailing in Yorba Linda
A full detail covers the roof, sidewalls, front and rear caps, bays, wheels and glass outside, plus upholstery, headliner, cabinetry, flooring and hard surfaces inside. Work is billed at the posted $95 per hour detail rate against assessed hours for the specific vehicle.
Order matters more in RV detailing than most owners realize. The roof is the dirtiest surface on the vehicle and everything cleaned off it runs down the sidewalls, so any exterior detail that does not start at the top is going to be done twice.
The roof is also where the most useful information lives. Cleaning it means looking closely at every seal, penetration, vent and air conditioner gasket on the vehicle, which is exactly where water intrusion begins. We report what we see up there whether or not you asked, because a failing seal found during a detail is a few hundred dollars and the same seal found in two years is a delamination repair.
What does a full exterior detail cover?
Roof first, with a cleaner appropriate to the membrane. EPDM rubber roofs chalk as they age and that chalk washes down the sides, staining them. TPO and fiberglass roofs behave differently and take different products. Using a petroleum based cleaner on EPDM degrades it, which is a common and avoidable mistake.
Then sidewalls, caps, awning rails, slide faces and the awning fabric itself. Gelcoat and painted areas are assessed for oxidation and treated with washing, decontamination and then correction where the condition calls for it. Black streaking below awning rails and roof edges is a specific problem needing dedicated treatment rather than general washing.
Then the details that make a vehicle look properly done: wheels and wheel wells, bay doors and interiors, the entry step, glass inside and out, and window and door seals cleaned and treated so they do not dry and crack. On coaches with heavy graphics the decals are assessed separately, since failing vinyl can be lifted by aggressive polishing and may need removal instead.
- Roof cleaned first with product matched to the membrane material
- Every roof seal, vent and gasket inspected and reported on
- Sidewalls, caps, slide faces and awning rails treated for black streaking
- Gelcoat and paint assessed for oxidation before any correction work
- Wheels, wheel wells, bays and entry steps cleaned
- Glass, window seals and door seals cleaned and conditioned
What does interior reconditioning involve on a coach?
Interiors are where the smell lives, and smell is the thing owners want fixed most and describe least precisely. Sources are usually one of four: the holding tank system, moisture in soft furnishings, mould from a water intrusion, or long term cooking and smoke residue in the headliner and upholstery.
Identifying which comes before cleaning, because they need different treatment and because two of them mean something else is wrong with the vehicle. A mould smell after a cleaning is a water intrusion problem, not a detailing problem, and telling an owner that plainly is more useful than deodorizing over it.
The work itself covers upholstery extraction, headliner cleaning, which requires care because RV headliners are frequently fabric bonded to a substrate and will delaminate if soaked, cabinetry cleaning and conditioning, hard surface cleaning, flooring, window coverings and the parts nobody reaches, meaning under furniture, behind the refrigerator and inside cabinet bases.
How should a coach be maintained between details?
Wash more often than you think and dry it. Most exterior degradation is from ultraviolet exposure and from contaminants sitting on the surface, so removing them regularly does more good than any product applied twice a year.
Keep the roof clean, particularly on EPDM where chalking runs down and stains. Treat window and door seals so they stay flexible, because a dried seal fails and admits water. Cover or shade the vehicle where possible, since the Southern California sun does more damage to gelcoat than everything else combined.
Inside, ventilate. A closed coach in summer heat bakes adhesives and vinyl and holds moisture. Roof vents cracked open with a cover, or a fan run periodically, prevents a large share of the interior problems we are asked to clean up later.

Our Process and Timeline
Shop hours and calendar days are different things. These are the stages and the realistic duration of each.
- 011 hour
Assessment and quote
The vehicle is walked and assessed for size, oxidation severity, graphics condition and interior state, then quoted against real hours.
- 022 to 6 hours
Roof and upper surfaces
Roof cleaned first with membrane appropriate product, and every seal and penetration inspected and photographed.
- 033 to 8 hours
Exterior wash and decontamination
Sidewalls, caps and slide faces washed, black streaking treated and surfaces decontaminated before any correction.
- 044 to 20 hours
Correction or protection
Oxidation correction where quoted, otherwise sealant or protection applied to sound surfaces.
- 054 to 16 hours
Interior reconditioning
Upholstery extraction, headliner, cabinetry, hard surfaces and flooring, including the areas behind and beneath furniture.
- 061 to 2 hours
Final walk
Glass, seals and details completed, then a walk through with you covering the condition report from the roof.
Common Problems and How We Solve Them
Black streaks come back within weeks of every wash.
SolutionThat is chalking EPDM roof material washing down the sides. Cleaning and treating the roof properly addresses the source rather than the symptom on the sidewalls.
The interior smells musty after cleaning.
SolutionThat is a water intrusion or mould issue rather than a cleaning issue. We identify the source, and where there is active moisture the repair comes before any further cleaning is worth paying for.
The headliner stained or sagged after someone cleaned it.
SolutionRV headliners are frequently fabric bonded to a substrate and delaminate when saturated. We use controlled moisture methods, and where the bond has already failed we quote panel repair separately.
Decals lifted at the edges during polishing.
SolutionAged vinyl becomes brittle and machine work will lift it. We assess graphics condition first and either work around them or recommend removal and replacement rather than damaging them further.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a full RV detail cost?
It is quoted at the posted $95 per hour detail rate against assessed hours. Size, oxidation severity, working height and interior condition are the four factors, and we give a range after walking the vehicle.
Should the roof be cleaned as part of a detail?
Always, and it should be done first. Everything cleaned off the roof runs down the sidewalls, and the roof is where seal failures are visible before they become water damage inside.
What cleaner is safe on an EPDM rubber roof?
Products formulated for EPDM. Petroleum based cleaners degrade rubber roofing, which is one of the most common ways owners shorten the life of a membrane while trying to look after it.
Can you remove smoke odour from a coach interior?
Often substantially, through extraction, surface treatment and addressing soft furnishings. Complete removal depends on how deeply residue has penetrated foam and headliner substrate, and we give an honest opinion before starting.
How often should an RV be detailed?
A full detail annually suits most coaches in Southern California, with regular washing in between. Sun exposure here is the dominant factor, so a covered or shaded vehicle can stretch that interval considerably.
