RV and Commercial Vehicle Collision Repair in Yorba Linda

RV collision repair restores a coach, trailer or van after an impact. Work runs from $1,000 for a bonded panel repair to well past $150,000 for a full structural rebuild, taking 5 to 800 or more labor hours. OCRV Center performs all stages in shop in Yorba Linda and bills carriers directly.

A collision estimate written from the outside of a vehicle is a guess. That is not a criticism of adjusters, it is a description of physics. Laminated sidewalls hide damage the way drywall hides a broken stud, and a coach that looks like it needs a rear cap frequently needs a rear cap, a floor section, a slide rail and a wiring harness.

We handle that gap the same way every time. The vehicle comes apart, the real damage gets photographed and measured, and a supplement goes to the carrier with the evidence attached. Most of our customers pay their deductible and nothing else.

What does RV collision repair actually cost?

The published band on this work is $1,000 to $150,000 and up. In practice most claims land in three clusters. Minor impact with no structural involvement runs roughly $1,000 to $5,000 and 5 to 25 hours. Moderate damage involving a cap, a slide face or a sidewall section runs roughly $5,000 to $20,000 and 30 to 100 hours. Major structural work involving frame correction, multiple caps, or fire and rollover damage starts around $20,000 and has no practical ceiling.

Every one of those numbers is labor hours times our posted body and paint rate of $210 per hour, plus paint supplies at $55 per paint hour, plus parts at the posted markup. Nothing is hidden and nothing is invented.

Why does the estimate go up after teardown?

This is the single biggest source of frustration in collision repair and it is almost never explained properly, so here is the mechanism.

An initial estimate is written from visible damage. Teardown removes the skin and exposes what the impact actually did underneath. On RVs this reveals hidden damage on the large majority of structural claims, because a laminated wall transmits force well past the point of visible failure. The supplement documents the newly discovered damage with photographs and measurements and goes to the carrier for approval before that work is performed.

A supplement is not a shop adding charges. It is the carrier being shown what was actually broken. If a shop never writes supplements, it either is not tearing vehicles down or it is absorbing the difference in quality.

What happens to aftermarket and custom work in a collision claim?

This matters enormously for camper vans and modified coaches, and it is where most owners lose money.

Solar arrays, lithium banks, custom cabinetry, roof racks, awnings and interior conversions are frequently not itemized on a policy, and a carrier cannot pay for what is not documented. We photograph and itemize aftermarket work before disassembly, with receipts where the owner has them, and submit it as part of the claim. Doing that after the van is already in pieces is far harder and often too late.

How long will my vehicle be in the shop?

Shop hours and calendar days are different things. A 60 hour repair is not eight days, because carrier approval and parts sit in between.

A realistic stage breakdown looks like this: estimate one day, carrier approval two to five days, teardown one to two days, supplement approval three to seven days, parts five to fifteen days, then body, paint, reassembly and quality control. Most moderate claims run three to six weeks. Structural claims run longer and we tell you that at intake rather than at week five.

Our Process and Timeline

Shop hours and calendar days are different things. These are the stages and the realistic duration of each.

  1. 01

    Intake and documentation

The vehicle is photographed inside and out, aftermarket work is itemized, and reference measurements are taken before anything is touched.

    1 day
  2. 02

A written estimate goes to your carrier with the documentation attached. Insurance walk ins are welcome and we deal with the adjuster directly.

    2 to 5 days
  3. 03

    Teardown

Damaged assemblies come off and hidden damage is exposed, photographed and measured against the original readings.

  4. 04

    Supplement approval

Newly discovered damage is submitted with evidence. No supplemental work begins before the carrier approves it.

Common Problems and How We Solve Them

The carrier wrote an estimate far below what the repair actually needs.

SolutionWe document the difference with teardown photographs and dimensional measurements and submit a supplement. Evidence moves adjusters in a way that argument does not.

My insurance company wants me to use a different shop.

SolutionIn California you choose the repair facility. A carrier can recommend, it cannot require. We work directly with every major carrier regardless of network status.

My coach has custom work the policy never listed.

SolutionWe itemize and photograph aftermarket work at intake and submit it as part of the claim, which is the only point in the process where that documentation is still easy to produce.

A previous shop repaired this and it came back wrong.

SolutionWe measure first. Previous improper repair is common on RVs and it shows up immediately as an out of tolerance reading at a datum point that should be clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does RV collision repair cost in Yorba Linda?

Between $1,000 and $150,000 or more, at 5 to 800 or more labor hours. Our posted body and paint rate is $210 per hour with paint supplies at $55 per paint hour. Minor impacts cluster around $1,000 to $5,000, moderate around $5,000 to $20,000, and structural work starts near $20,000.

Do you work directly with insurance companies?

Yes. We bill Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA, Mercury, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Wawanesa, Foremost, National General and others directly, and we handle the adjuster communication so you do not have to.

Will I only pay my deductible?

On a covered claim that is the usual outcome. Where it is not, the difference is normally a coverage limitation such as betterment on a worn part or an aftermarket item the policy never listed, and we tell you about it in writing before the work happens.

Can you repair a coach that another shop already worked on?

Yes, and it is a meaningful share of what we do. Previous improper repair is measurable. We document the existing condition first so there is no ambiguity about what we inherited.

Do you provide a loaner or arrange a rental?

We coordinate rental arrangements with your carrier where your policy includes that coverage. We do not maintain a loaner fleet.

What if my RV is declared a total loss?

We can supply the carrier with a documented repair cost so the total loss determination is made against real numbers rather than an estimate written from photos. Owners frequently find the vehicle is repairable once actual figures are on the table.
