Semi Truck Body and Frame Repair in Yorba Linda

Semi work covers cab and sleeper body repair, structural frame correction, and fifth wheel plate installation at $1,500 to $5,500. Frame work on a tractor is measured against specification and staged, because a long chassis amplifies small angular errors.

A tractor chassis is long, which means a small angular error at the front produces a large dimensional error at the rear. That is the whole reason semi frame work has to be staged and measured between pulls rather than done in one go.

On commercial and fleet vehicles we perform body, paint, structural and equipment installation only. We do not perform engine work, drivetrain work or DOT inspections.

Why does chassis length change the approach?

Because errors amplify along the length. A deflection that measures a few millimetres at the point of impact can put the fifth wheel plate out by considerably more, and that shows up as a trailer that does not track.

So we measure at every accessible datum point along the full chassis rather than around the damage, and we pull in controlled stages with a full re measurement between each. Correcting a bend frequently reveals a twist that was masked by it.

What about the sleeper and the cab?

Cab and sleeper are separate structures on most tractors and they are estimated separately. Sleeper damage is frequently underestimated because the panel damage looks minor while the mounting and the seal between cab and sleeper has moved.

A sleeper that has started leaking after an impact is almost always a mounting or alignment issue rather than a seal issue, and replacing the seal without correcting the alignment does not last.

  • Cab body repair, door, hood, fender, bumper, $750 to $12,000
  • Sleeper mounting and cab to sleeper alignment
  • Frame straightening, $750 to $20,000 and up
  • Fifth wheel plate installation, $1,500 to $5,500
  • Full refinish and repaint, $5,000 to $30,000
  • DOT reflective marking, $250 to $1,200

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does semi frame straightening cost?

$750 to $20,000 and up at 5 to 80 labor hours. On a long tractor chassis measurement time is a larger share of the total than on a shorter vehicle.

My sleeper started leaking after a collision. Is that a seal?

Usually not. It is normally cab to sleeper alignment that moved. Replacing the seal without correcting alignment does not last.

Do you install fifth wheel plates?

Yes. Fifth wheel plate installation runs $1,500 to $5,500 at 8 to 22 labor hours.

Do you do DOT inspections or engine work?

No. Body, paint, structural and equipment installation only.
