Rivian R1T Body Repair in Yorba Linda

The R1T combines a structural battery pack with mixed material construction including significant aluminum. Both affect repair method. High voltage disable precedes any work and underside impacts are flagged for pack assessment before body work proceeds.

The R1T is a well engineered vehicle and a demanding repair. Mixed material construction means aluminum and steel in the same structure, and those cannot be worked with the same tools or in the same space without causing problems.

Add a structural battery pack and a full ADAS suite and every stage of the job has a constraint on it.

Rivian R1T in for aluminum panel repair in an isolated work area

Why does mixed material construction matter?

Because aluminum and steel do not tolerate each other. Steel dust embedded in aluminum causes galvanic corrosion that appears months later as blistering from underneath, and it is effectively unfixable once it has started.

That means aluminum work happens in an isolated area with dedicated tooling that never touches steel. It is a discipline issue rather than a difficulty issue, and shops that ignore it produce repairs that fail in a year.

What about the pack and the sensors?

The pack is structural, so any underside or floor impact is flagged for assessment by the appropriate party before body work proceeds. We do not evaluate packs and we say so.

The ADAS suite is extensive and recalibration after structural work is mandatory. That runs $285 to $1,800 at 1 to 7 labor hours and it is on every structural estimate.

  • High voltage disable per manufacturer procedure first
  • Underside and floor impacts flagged for pack assessment
  • Aluminum work isolated with dedicated tooling
  • Structural sectioning only at factory designated locations
  • ADAS scan and recalibration after any structural work

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you repair Rivian R1T?

Body, panel, structural body and refinish work, following manufacturer high voltage procedure with aluminum work isolated. We do not assess battery packs.

Are you a Rivian certified shop?

No. Where a repair requires certified programme access or proprietary procedures, that is a certified facility. We are clear about that boundary rather than blurring it.

Why does aluminum need isolated tooling?

Steel dust in aluminum causes galvanic corrosion that appears months later as blistering from underneath and is effectively unfixable. Isolation prevents it.

How much does R1T body repair cost?

It falls in the $1,500 to $40,000 and up collision band at 10 to 200 labor hours, plus ADAS recalibration. Aluminum panel work carries higher labor than equivalent steel.
