Repair for Full-Time RVers and Snowbirds
When the coach is your home, a repair is a housing problem. We give the realistic calendar range at intake, sequence work so displacement is as short as possible, and tell you which stage is holding things up so you can plan rather than guess.
Every shop will tell a full timer they understand. Here is what actually helps: a realistic range on day one, and being told which stage the job is stuck in rather than being given a new date every Friday.
A structural repair is six to sixteen weeks. Nobody wants to hear that. It is still better heard in week one than week five.
What should a full timer do before the vehicle goes in?
Get the realistic range in writing and plan housing against the top of it rather than the bottom. Then strip out anything you will need during the repair, because retrieving items from a coach mid teardown is not always possible.
Also check the rental provision on your policy. Most were written for cars and run out long before an RV repair finishes, which is a surprise best had at intake rather than at week four.
- Get the range in writing and plan against the top of it
- Remove medication, documents, tools and anything seasonal you will need
- Check the rental or loss of use limit on your policy
- Photograph the interior before handover for your own records
- Give us a contact method you will actually answer for stage updates
Can any of it be staged to shorten displacement?
Sometimes, and it is worth asking. Where a job splits into a structural phase and a cosmetic phase, occasionally the vehicle can be habitable between them. That depends entirely on what is open and whether systems are functional.
What cannot be staged is anything with the roof or a wall open, or a coach with LP or water disconnected. We will tell you honestly which category yours is in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I stay in the RV on your lot during the repair?
No. An active shop floor and yard has real hazards and it is not a habitable environment. Plan accommodation for the full range.
Will my policy cover accommodation?
Some policies include loss of use. Most rental provisions were written for cars and have limits far shorter than an RV repair takes. Check the declarations page at intake.
Can I access the vehicle to get things during the repair?
By arrangement, and depending on the stage. Mid teardown with panels off, sometimes not safely. Take what you need before handover.
Do full timers get priority scheduling?
We sequence to minimise displacement where we can. What we will not do is promise a compressed timeline we cannot deliver, because a missed date is worse than an honest range.
