Newmar Motorhome Repair in Yorba Linda

OCRV Center repairs Newmar diesel and gas coaches at our Yorba Linda facility. Newmar builds a steel and aluminum superstructure with full body paint, and the defining repair challenge is matching multi stage full body paint schemes rather than the structure itself.

Newmar sits at the upper end of the domestic market and the build quality shows. Steel and aluminum superstructure, quality laminated walls, and Spartan or Freightliner chassis under the diesel coaches.

What makes Newmar work demanding is the paint. Full body multi stage schemes with graphics, pearls and candy layers are not spot repairable in the way a single stage sidewall is, and getting a Newmar back to correct is a refinish problem as much as a body problem.

Why is Newmar paint the hard part?

Because a full body scheme uses multiple layers, frequently including metallic or pearl basecoats and multi colour graphics that flow across panel boundaries. A repair confined to one panel cannot reproduce that flow, so the correct approach blends into adjacent panels and in some cases repaints a whole side.

That is why a Newmar quote for what looks like a modest dent can be substantially higher than the same dent on a decal graphics coach. We explain the panel boundaries at estimate time rather than after, because it changes the number significantly.

  • Multi stage basecoats including metallic, pearl and candy layers
  • Graphics flowing across panel boundaries, not stopping at them
  • Clear coat depth requiring full panel refinish for a correct match
  • Blend zones frequently extending two panels beyond the damage
  • Computerized colour match with spray out cards before committing

Which Newmar coaches do you work on?

The whole catalogue, current and discontinued. Diesel pushers on Spartan and Freightliner chassis, gas coaches on Ford F53, and the Super C line on Freightliner cab chassis.

Older Newmar coaches are worth repairing more often than their age suggests, because the underlying structure holds up and the value is in the finish, which we can restore.

  • Dutch Star and Ventana diesel pushers
  • Mountain Aire and London Aire high line diesel
  • Essex and King Aire flagship coaches
  • Kountry Star and Bay Star gas coaches
  • Supreme Aire and Super Star Super C coaches
  • Discontinued lines including Northern Star and Cypress

What fails structurally on a Newmar?

Less than on most brands, and that is a fair statement rather than marketing. Where Newmar does have recurring issues they are the shared industry ones: roof membrane seams, slide seal compression and front cap joint sealant.

On the diesel coaches, chassis related body issues show up at the front cap where the chassis flexes relative to the house, and at the rear cap on coaches with heavy tag axle loading. Both are joint problems rather than panel problems.

Common Problems and How We Solve Them

A shop quoted a small dent and the paint match was visibly wrong.

SolutionFull body multi stage schemes cannot be matched panel local. The correct approach blends into adjacent panels, and we show you spray out cards before committing paint.

My graphics run across the damaged panel.

SolutionThen the repair extends to wherever the graphic can be interrupted cleanly, which is frequently two panels away. We map that at estimate time so the number does not move later.

My coach is fifteen years old, is it worth painting?

SolutionFrequently yes on a Newmar, because the structure underneath holds up. Full body paint runs $8,500 to $45,000 and up and on a sound coach it resets the vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Newmar full body paint cost?

Full vehicle paint runs $8,500 to $45,000 and up at 60 to 300 labor hours at our posted $210 per hour rate plus $55 per paint hour in materials. Multi stage schemes with graphics sit toward the upper end.

Can you match Newmar multi stage paint?

Yes, with computerized colour match and spray out cards verified before any paint goes on the coach. We also map how far the blend has to extend, which is usually further than the damage.

Do you work on King Aire and Essex coaches?

Yes. Our two 65 foot by 20 foot downdraft booths handle full length high line diesel coaches.

Is Newmar structure better than average?

Yes, genuinely. Recurring issues are the shared industry ones at roof seams, slide seals and cap joints rather than brand specific structural weaknesses.

Are you a Newmar dealer?

No. We are an independent collision and repair facility in Yorba Linda and we do not represent the manufacturer.
